Artist Barrels 2009
Rain barrels connect to your downspout, decreasing the amount of rain that runs off your property. Why is that important? Reduced runoff helps prevent water pollution and flooding! Every time it rains, unabsorbed water rushes to storm drains and directly to local waterways. This water carries pollutants such as pet waste, automotive fluids and fertilizer. Installing a rain barrel benefits you and the environment. The water saved in your rain barrel can be used for watering flowers, gardens and lawns all through the summer - even in times of drought. In addition, reduced water demand will save you money by lowering your use of municipal water supplies.
Mark your calendar now for PRIDE's rain barrel reception, the only chance you'll have to see all of the barrels in one location and to talk to each of the artists. The reception will be June 6 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the lower atrium of Lexington Green.
